SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT (non-JROTC)
The Coronado Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is pleased to announce the 2024 – 2025 Scholarship Program
A number of Scholarships will be awarded during the 2024 – 2025 school year to eligible graduating seniors.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
– The applicant must be a 2025 Graduating Senior from one of the following high schools:
Benson, Bisbee, Bowie, Buena, Douglas, Patagonia, San Simon, St. David, Tombstone, Valley Union, Willcox, a certified Charter High School or a certified Home School Program in the geographic area covered by the above high schools.
– The applicant’s parent, grandparent, or legal guardian must be an honorably discharged Veteran active-duty or retired military, an active reservist in drill status, or National Guard Member.
– The applicant must have an overall academic Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
– The applicant must enroll in a community college, a college, a university, military/service academy, or trade school.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
– Scholastic Standing in high school.
– Involvement and leadership in school and/or community activities.
– Timely submission of a properly completed application.
– Applications must be received no later than 6pm, 6 March 2025, whether mailed or delivered in person.
– Applications must be personally given to the POC, or mailed to: Kathy Youngblood,
– Scholarship Director, MOAA Coronado Chapter, 6760 S. Calle de la Mango, Hereford, AZ 85615. If mailed, the application must be postmarked NLT 1 March 2025.
– Letter of endorsement by the high school principal or a designated authority.
– Submission of one or more letters of recommendation from counselors, teachers, coaches, and supervisors.

The Coronado Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is pleased to announce the 2024-2025 Scholarship Program
Two scholarships will be awarded during the 2024-2025 school year to graduating seniors enrolled in the JROTC Programs at Buena High School and/or Tombstone High School.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
– The applicants must be 2025 Graduating Seniors from Buena or Tombstone High Schools.
– The applicants must be enrolled and satisfactorily participating in the Buena or Tombstone High Schools’ JROTC Program.
– The applicant must have an overall academic Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
– The applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale in JROTC classes.
– The applicant must enroll in a community college, a college, a university, or military/service academy.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
– Scholastic Standing in high school.
– Involvement, scholastic standing and leadership in JROTC.
– Involvement and leadership in school and/or community activities.
– Timely submission of a properly completed application:

Favorable endorsement by the Senior Army Instructor, Buena High School or Tombstone High School JROTC Program. Include JROTC class standing and GPA.
Endorsements from at least two Teachers, Coaches, work supervisors or other adults that are familiar with the student’s leadership abilities and potential.

Colonel Iluminada Salvador Chinneth MOAA Coronado Chapter
Nursing Scholarship
The Colonel Iluminada Salvador Chinneth MOAA Coronado Chapter Nursing Scholarship is $5,000 awarded to one student per year to a nursing student in a Baccalaureate program in the 3rd and 4th years of in-residence (not online) nursing studies in an accredited college of nursing.
Qualification criteria:
Proof of military association via parents or grandparents, i.e. DD 214 or Commander’s statement of service.
Enrolled full-time in a resident nursing program (not online).
Transcript of records showing a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 in nursing courses, not including pre-nursing or elective courses.
Provide proof of acceptance and registration from the Dean of School of Nursing, or Registrar.

Colonel Iluminada Salvador Chinneth was a US Army Nurse Practitioner who retired in 2018 after serving 20 years on active duty. More information about her service can be found here
