Presidents Day

“No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave.” ― Calvin Coolidge

Today is Presidents Day, a federal holiday, a time to recognize the United States Office of Presidency and set aside to honor all presidents. The day is a state holiday in most states, with official names including Washington’s Birthday, Presidents’ Day, President’s Day, Presidents Day, and Washington’s and Lincoln’s Birthday.

Since 1862 there has been a tradition in the United States Senate that George Washington’s Farewell Address be read on his birthday.
