IT’S A NEW YEAR! WHAT CAN WE EXPECT IN 2016?

Some changes are always welcome, some are not. One change we don’t want to see: reduced savings at the commissary.

2015 brought big changes to military retirement. 2016 will see major proposals from lawmakers to overhaul other military benefits. One of the things we hope won’t change is the average of 30 percent savings provided at the commissary.

At 10:30 on January 13, I will be testifying before the House Armed Services Subcommittee at a hearing on commissary reform. MOAA supports a commissary system equipped to provide high quality products, high customer satisfaction, and savings sustained at current levels both stateside and overseas. Tune in to find out what MOAA and other advocacy groups have to say about it.

Yours in Service,

Brooke

SEASONS OF CHANGE

C.C. Gallagher is moving like a milspouse

As the year comes to a close, some of us are watching our household goods get packed up on a truck and moved to a new location. We aren’t immune to those changes here at MOAA Spouse, and so we said “see you later” to our own C.C. Gallagher who will be following her Army spouse on a new adventure. As the Deputy Director of Spouse Programs, C.C. connected with military spouses all over the world, coordinating our Spouse Symposiums, updating MOAA’s Keeping a Career on the Move® guide for military spouses, working with our Spouse Advisory Council and, sharing information via our blog, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.

None of that is going away, so we will have our hands full until we find someone as passionate as C.C. Needless to say, we will miss her.

Best wishes to C.C. and her family and to you as you close out your year with celebrations and changes.

Yours in Service,
Brooke
